Refund Policy
How cancellations, changes and refunds work when we've helped with your booking.
Because Help My Flight Booking is an independent booking assistance service and not an airline, refunds and changes for airline tickets are mainly governed by the airline's rules. This page explains how that works and how our own service fees are handled.
Every fare has its own rules. Before you cancel or change anything, call us and we'll tell you exactly what applies to your ticket.
1. It starts with your fare type
- Refundable tickets can usually be cancelled for a refund to the original payment method, sometimes minus an airline fee.
- Changeable tickets may be changed for an airline fee and/or the difference in fare.
- Non-refundable tickets may convert to a travel credit, or may lose their value if cancelled — basic economy fares are often in this group.
2. Cancelling soon after booking
Many airlines let you cancel within 24 hours of booking without a penalty, usually if the booking was made at least seven days before departure. Whether this applies depends on the airline and your booking, so contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel.
3. When the airline cancels or changes your flight
If the airline cancels your flight or makes a significant schedule change and you decide not to travel or not to accept the alternative, you may be entitled to a refund under the airline's policy and U.S. Department of Transportation rules. We'll help you understand and pursue the options available.
4. Our service fees
Our service fees pay for the work involved in researching, booking and managing travel. Unless stated otherwise when you buy, or unless the law requires a refund, service fees for work already completed are non-refundable — including if the ticket is cancelled later. If we make a mistake on your booking, we'll work with you to fix it without charging an additional service fee.
5. How refunds are paid
Approved airline refunds are issued by the airline, normally to the original payment method. Timing depends on the airline and your card issuer. We'll keep you updated on any refund we're helping with.
6. Missed flights
If you don't show up for a flight without cancelling or changing first, the airline may cancel the rest of your itinerary — including your return — and your ticket may lose its value. Contact us before departure if your plans change.
